Chapter 10 - Synthesis of N-sulfonated N-benzoazoles and their use in medicinal chemistry

Abstract

N-Sulfonyl benzoazoles are a kind of ubiquitous core structural motif, which can be found in various bioactive molecules and pharmaceuticals. Consequently, displaying efficient synthetic methods to deliver the structurally diverse N-sulfonyl benzoazoles such as indoles, benzoxazoles and benzothiazoles represent an important objective in our chapter. In particular, N-sulfonyl benzoazoles are of great significance in drug discovery because of their diverse biological activities. For example, N-sulfonyl indole derivatives revealed variant activities such as anti-parasitic, anti-viral, anti-apoptotic, etc. In addition, benzoazoles such as benzoxazoles and benzothiazoles have been of considerable interest because of their significant biological activities.
