Abstract

This chapter aims to discuss finite element analysis (FEA) applications in the field of fluid mechanics. The theoretical fundamental on fluid mechanics is reviewed. The governing equations of fluid mechanics are introduced, and these equations are applied in formulating FEA models for fluid mechanics problems. The modeling and solving processes for some common problems of fluid mechanics including pipe flows, steady incompressible fluid flow, and groundwater are discussed. In particular, the solution to the fluid flow governed by Poisson's equations is presented in details.
