Considerable basic knowledge is available; its method of application depends on whether or not wool is the primary product. Emphasis should be placed on what the buyer pays for—fine fibres in clothing wools, freedom from kemp and pigment in carpet wools. Price per fleece is more important to the farmer than price per kg, and so in all systems a heavy fleece weight is important.
