Abstract

This chapter analyzes the role of data quality management in response to the rapid evolution of data in our world. It discusses the impact of poor-quality data on organizations, focusing on the costs and risks associated with poorly managed data. In many organizations, poor-quality data is tolerated to a degree that poor-quality products would not be. Data quality management reduces the costs and risks of poor-quality data and enables the benefits and opportunities of high-quality data, especially in an age of big data, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.
