Abstract

Nanotechnology is currently one of the most rapidly growing technologies. Green nanotechnology has great potential for innovative applications in many sectors. Nanoparticles (NPs) are small in size (1–100nm) and have specific properties; therefore, they are used widely in multiple fields such as medicine, agriculture, food, and cosmetics. NP synthesis utilizing microorganisms and plants via green synthesis is environmentally friendly and cost-effective. Green synthesis of metal nanoparticles has been widely recognized as an efficient method of synthesis. This chapter explores the interactions of plants and microbes with NPs and mainly focuses on the application of NPs synthesized by plants and microbes. We also explore the plants and microbes used for the synthesis of NPs, the current application of synthesized nanoparticles, and their potential use.
