Abstract

The world of environmental engineering science and chemical engineering is currently witnessing immense challenges. Global warming, climate change and water shortages are having devastating effects throughout all parts of the modern world. Environmental science is now in imminent need of determined human scientific endeavor. This chapter examines in detail recent scientific innovations in the field of environmental remediation. The vision and the scientific challenges in the field of environmental protection and environmental remediation are vast and wide ranging. Water purification, drinking water treatment and industrial wastewater treatment are in great need of the fruits of human scientific progress. This chapter specifically focuses on recent scientific research pursuits in the field of conventional and non-conventional environmental engineering techniques.
