Abstract

A state-of-the-art survey is given on heat exchangers and their networks with references to relevant literature on the subject. Only recuperators are considered in the survey and the book since regenerators are rarely applied in heat exchanger networks and could be regarded as counterflow recuperators if occasion arises. Simple thermal design methods are discussed as well as the cell method and incremental calculations. Recent developments in heat transfer enhancement and optimization methods for heat exchanger networks with consideration of their dynamic behavior are reviewed with reference to related chapters of the book.
