Abstract

Healthcare uses an approach characterized by preventive and predictive technologies. Systems based on the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) generate a formidable flow of information, which must be approached in an integrative way by methodologies derived from computational intelligence. The chapter goes through the communication via the internet, which constitutes one of the tools responsible for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) arises as a valuable instrument for doctor–patient interaction and the performance of certain corrective or therapeutic actions, even when the patient is not present in the office or hospital. In addition to this, the strong implication of artificial intelligence in daily life, particularly in the field of health and healthcare, are combined with IoT in various architectures ranging from on-site to cloud via a hybrid configuration based on data-oriented frameworks combining the edge, fog, and cloud computing.
