Abstract

The chaos and its control by nonfeedback method in tethered satellite system are investigated in this paper. The chaos dynamical behavior of the system is judged by the sign of the top Lyapunov exponent. The Khasminskii's spherical coordinate formulation and the extension of Wedig's algorithm are used to compute the top Lyapunov exponent. It is shown that, the chaos can be suppressed by exerting a random noise to the phase of the system. In addition, the Poincare map is given to further verify the obtained results.
