Abstract
A complete set of methods for channeling measurements is presented. It is based on a full discussion of transformations between laboratory and crystal frames of reference. Specific methods include crystal orientation and goniometer calibration procedure, beam-goniometer misalignment analysis, beam alignment along an arbitrary crystallographic direction, calculations of the beam spot as a function of the goniometer XY translation, as well as two methods for scattering angle calibration. The methods are exemplified by ion scattering experiments.
