Abstract

The dropping characteristics of a rectangular micro-ring resonator employing total-internal-reflection (TIR) mirrors are presented. The rectangular resonator is formed using four low-loss TIR mirrors, two multimode-interference couplers, and two bus waveguides. A free spectral range of approximately 154 GHz is observed near 1572 nm along with an on-off ratio of 8.5 dB, a full-width at half-maximum of about 0.456 nm, and a Q factor of more than 3477.
