Abstract

SUMMARY The aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransfer ase activities in vitamin B6 deficient rats were assayed. The activities of aspartate arninotransferase and alanine arninotransferas e were reduced in the supernatant fraction , while their activities were preserved in the rnitochondrial fraction. With the addition of pyrido xal phosphate in vitro to the liver or kidney of vit arnin B6 deficient rats , the supernatant aspartate arninotransferas e recovered its activity to a respectable degree , while alanine aminotransferase not 80 rnuch. Th e addition of pyridoxal phosphate in vitro had no infiuence upon the of rnitochondrial aspartate aminotransferase and ala Il ine aminotransf erase . The results of these experirnents indicate that these supernat ant transarninases are a狂ected by the diminution of vitamin B6 content .
