Abstract

Summary (1)Salmonella typhi endotoxin induces a considerable (64 %) increase in thetotal serum cholesterol level of untreated rabbits. The cholesterol level of endotoxintolerantor cholesterol-fed animals does not increase upon injections of endotoxin.The serum phospholipid level exhibits changes similar to those of the cholesterollevel. (2)Salmonella typhi endotoxin induces a marked increase (463 %,) in the totalserum glycerid level of the control rabbits. The increase is somewhat less (230 %)in cholesterol-fed animals. No considerable changes are seen in endotoxin-tolerantanimals.
