Abstract

The change in the crystal structure of a number of metals (Cu, Al, Ag) under laser radiation of power density 104–105 W/cm2 was detected by the method of x-ray diffractometry. It was suggested that this effect is due to the large microstresses arising in the zone of rapid anisotropic heating of the metal under irradiation.
