Abstract

ABSTRACT Spending a few hours online surfing the Web, looking through friends’ latest posts on Facebook, and sharing some experiences with others in a blog are just a few of our daily routines nowadays. While these are rather recent developments in our lives, it is amazing how quickly they have become significant parts of our lives. It is hard to remember the times we used to look at the store catalogs to review our product options as consumers. Even though we are provided with numerous interactive avenues online, there are still times we feel what we have is not good enough for one reason or another. We complain about the speed of our Internet connection or complain that a particular website has not been updated recently or complain that an administrator has not responded to our post. We think there is more to Internet than what we currently have and we “deserve” or “need” more. The purpose of this paper is to review how we got to this point and what we can possibly have next. While what we can have next is somewhat speculative, we hope to raise some issues that could serve as catalyst for at least more brainstorming, if not further research of the topic. Keywords Web 1.0; Web 2.0; Web 3.0; Marketing 3.0
