Abstract

We have used an ultrasonic method to measure the temperature dependence of the dynamic elastic modulus of magnesial refractories of various compositions and have demonstrated the connection between the modulus and the processes and structural transformations which occur in the products. From the change in the dynamic elastic modulus we have established the temperature boundaries of water removal, decomposition of the sulfite distillery waste and hydrates, the solid-phase sintering of the magnesial refractories, and the temperature at which the liquid phase appears and the formation of defects and cracks occurs.
