Abstract

This article aims to demonstrate creativity as a key factor in seizing opportunities within the cultural segment, particularly considering other intangible resources of organizations such as network capability and knowledge during the pandemic. The study reveals that by configuring various factors and resources (network capabilities, knowledge, and creativity), a transitional phase for musicians could become an opportunity for reflection and diversification of their existing activities, which are also sustained beyond the pandemic. The research encompasses a systematic literature review on the discussed subject matter, as well as a bibliometric analysis of articles exploring opportunities, the pandemic, and creativity. Additionally, an interview was conducted with one of the pioneers of Polish street hip-hop, the creator of one of the most renowned subcultures in Poland, whose cumulative YouTube views reach hundreds of millions Bosski Roman (FIRMA, Druyna Mistrzw). Despite losing the ability to perform concerts during the pandemic, Bosski Roman implemented a series of innovative solutions that enabled him to survive the lockdown. The first section of the article introduces the concept of chance management and highlights the role of creativity in seizing opportunities during the pandemic. The second section provides an overview of the existing literature on creativity, culture, and pandemics. The research component of the article includes an interview with Bosski Roman, a prominent Polish Hip-Hop artist, who provides insights into how he has adapted to the pandemic and integrated it into his business model. The article presents managerial implications, primarily focused on using creativity to approach problems and create new opportunities. Additionally, it explores the perspectives of an artist who has been significantly impacted by the pandemic. Bosski Roman discusses how he has overcome the challenges brought about by the pandemic using his creativity, and provides insights that may be relevant to other organizations seeking to adapt to the new-old normal. Overall, this article provides a unique perspective on the intersection of creativity, culture, and pandemics, highlighting the potential for chance management during times of crisis. It encourages readers to reflect on how they can leverage their creativity to navigate the challenges of the pandemic and capitalize on the new opportunities it may present in its own unique way, the pandemic and its effects continue to this day.
