Abstract
From the whole plant of Flemingia chappar Ham, two crystalline chalcones have been isolated. The major one has been characterised as 2′,4′-dihydroxychalcone (II) and the structure of the minor one, a new naturally occurring chalcone named flemichapparin, has been established as 2′,4′-dihydroxy-5′-methoxychalcone (VI) from spectral, chemical and synthetic evidence.
