Abstract

Cesium uranate Cs3U12O31(OH)13 • 3H2O was synthesized by the reaction between hydrated uranium(VI) oxide UO3 • 2.25H2O (schoepite) and cesium nitrate aqueous solution under hydrothermal conditions at 200°C. The composition and structure of the synthesized compound were established and its dehydration and thermal decomposition were studied using chemical analysis, IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and differential thermal analysis.
