Abstract

Abstract This article identifies Cercidas’ addressee in fr. 5 as Pasicrates (P.Oxy. 1082, col. X.11). Based on the assumption that this is a speaking name (‘the Almighty’), a hypothesis is presented that is consistent with what can be read of the meliamb. In addition, a new colometry of the legible part of the poem is proposed.
