Abstract

SHS has been used under centrifugal force for in-situ applications of ceramic linings inside metal pipes and vessels. As a technological application, the SHS process could successfully produce more than 6m long ceramic-lined pipes for the production by using a thermite reaction under the influence of centrifugal force. The quality of the produced ceramics is affected mainly by the heat and the product contents during the SHS process under centrifugal forces. The centrifugal force also plays an important role in reaction propagation and product formation, which is realized through the control of grain sizes and compositions of the reactants.
