Abstract
Typically, decentralized off-grid solar street lighting solutions are designed to the needs during low or no-isolation period. These systems satisfy the lighting load requirements even if the weather conditions are worse but for most part of the year there will be an excessive amount of energy without being utilized. But still these unutilized energy from each pole may not fulfil the local energy needs. On the contrary centralized system will meet the local needs such as by laying the foundation of charging stations (energy kiosks), or electric vehicle charging stations. The centralized station can also perform as micro power distribution centre leading to lower pay-back period for the entire system, light weight and cost effective pole structures in addition to other benefits. Overall system efficiency is the most important parameter in a power distribution system and which in turn depends upon power distribution architecture of centralized systems. This paper investigates the efficient centralized power distribution architecture. Analysis is carried through MATLAB /Simulink and in real time.
