Abstract
This year marks a signi!cant milestone for the New Zealand Medical Student Journal (NZMSJ) as it celebrates 20 years of empowering medical students to actively engage with academic medicine. Having witnessed the transformative impact of medical student journals (MSJs) in fostering academic growth and innovation, I am honoured to reflect on the pivotal role the NZMSJ — and MSJs more broadly — have played, and continue to play, in shaping the next generation of clinicians, researchers, and leaders in healthcare.
