Abstract

This paper discusses the calibration of odometer’s scale factor with tire temperature, which is a critical parameter for dead reckoning in vehicle navigation system especially when GPS is not available. In this work, we propose an INS/Odometer/CDGPS calibration approach to off-line estimate the scale factor. By combining CDGPS measurements and odometer’s outputs, the scale factor with tire temperature can be precisely identified using kalman filter. Experimental results show that the relation of odometer’s scale factor and tire operation temperature is approximate linear, the model has good applicability and the accuracy of vehicle navigation system can be remarkably improved.
