Abstract

Modified Macrophage Membranes In article number 2101788 by Wen Lu, Jun Xie, and co-workers, a modified macrophage membrane-coated nanoparticle drug delivery system able to transport colchicine to atherosclerotic plaque is developed. The macrophage membrane is modified to highly express Integrin α4/β1 and CD47, contributing to effective accumulation of the nanoparticles in atherosclerotic plaque and attenuating foam cell formation. Intravenous injections of the hybrid system successfully reduce the lipid plaque load and improve the plaque stability.
