Abstract

CD169 + macrophages are a unique subset of macrophages known for their special location in different organs and their ability to support viral replication for the presentation and activation of adaptive immune cells. Simultaneously, they restrict viral replication in other cells through production of IFN-I and balance T cell activation through upregulation of PD-L1 to prevent immunopathology.
