Abstract

This chapter discusses tissues sources, regulation of expression, and structure of CC chemokine receptor 1 (CC CKR-1). The family of CC CKR-1 is G-protein coupled receptor family, a chemokine receptor branch of rhodopsin family. The tissue sources include HL-60 and human monocytes. It is observed that HEK 293 cells expressing CC CKR-1 shows an intracellular calcium flux in response to MIP-lα and RANTES. HEK 293 cells expressing CC CKR-1 chemotax in response to MCP-3, MIP-lα, and RANTES. Xenopus oocytes injected with CC CKR-1 RNA show a calcium influx in response to MIP-lα and RANTES, but not MIP-lβ or MCP-1. Homologous and heterologous desensitization of cells expresses CC CKR-1 with MIP-la and RANTES. CC CKR-1 RNA is detected in peripheral blood and synovial fluid of RA patients, not osteoarthritis patients. It is found that there is a 102 bp 5′ untranslated region followed by a 1065 bpORF and 998 bp of 3′ untranslated.
