Abstract
Jet Pipe Temperature (JPT) is a representation of Turbine Entry Temperature (TET) and is one of the most critical parameters in a gas turbine engine. Excessive turbine temperatures result in decreased life or catastrophic failure of the engine. This paper presents some case studies analyzing the causes of such high JPT in a turbo shaft engine in association with helicopter operation, effect of high JPT on engine performance and life and highlights the precautions and preventions to be adopted from engine point of view.
