Abstract

Pre-excitation syndromes resulting from the presence of an accessory tract are one of the causes of serious arrhythmias, including death. They are often asymptomatic and are detected accidentally during a routine cardiac examination. If left untreated, they are a contraindication to intensive sports, because the first symptom may be sudden cardiac arrest. Ablation of pre-excitation syndromes is an effective method of treating this disease in both children and adults.
