Abstract

The title copper coordination polymer, [Cu(C8H4O5)(C10H8N2)]n, was synthesized by reacting Cu(NO3)2, 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline under hydrothermal conditions. Single-crystal X-ray studies revealed that self-assembly of the bridging ligands, chelating ligands and metal ions results in a one-dimensional coordination polymer, in which the Cu atom is four-coordinated and shows a [CuN2O2] square-planar geometry.
