Abstract

The oxidation mechanism of toluene in PdSO4−H2SO4 (80.0 wt.%) solutions at 298 K via routes involving Pd(I) and Pd(II) has been studied. Addition of benzene was found to inhibit the reaction due to the binding of Pd(I). The routes involving Pd(II) and Pd(I) were distinguished.
