Abstract
The study employs an unpublished documentary fund held in the Special Collections of the ASTRA Sibiu County Library, concerning the censuses from 1832 to 1837 of the serfs from Podu Iloaiei owned by the hatman Constantin Paladi. We have also referred to the censuses of other enslaved Rroma communities owned by the same landlord, contemporary with those mentioned, which are also part of the Special collection of the library (Popești, Totoești, Ștefănești – Iasi County, Grozești, Valea Seacă – Bacău County, Ciocani – Vaslui County, Ciorăști – Vrancea County). Based on the information provided by the documents, we have presented the structure of each census. We have analyzed the demographic (births, marriages, deaths), religious and social situation of the „Paladi serfs” of Podu Iloaiei.
