Case study: Methodology of reinforcement calculation for newly installed pressure vessel in an industry

Abstract

The project entails the installation of new pressure vessels in a petrochemical industry in Mangaluru to meet the process requirements of the fluid that runs in the unit. This article focuses on the process that led to the effective development of piping between the newly installed pressure vessel and the unit, as per ASME B31.3. The document briefly discusses the stages needed in designing a piping system for newly installed pressure vessels, prominently the reinforcement calculations, which were performed in accordance to ASME section VIII division1.
