Abstract

Use the Volga River as an example, the author describes general problems arising in cartographic classification and mapping when employing large sets of variables. The geographic patterns revealed in a joint analysis of a taxonomic and chorologic space under conditions of information saturation are described. General geographical conclusions of a methodological nature are drawn.
