Abstract

Abstract Carpenter Project 70 stainless type 321 is a modified version of type 321 stainless steel with improved machinability when compared to conventional type 321. The alloy is a nonhardenable austenitic chromium-nickel steel that is particularly adaptable for parts for use at temperatures between 427 and 816 C (800 and 1500 F). This grade is nonmagnetic in the annealed condition but is slightly magnetic when cold worked. Among its many applications are aircraft engine exhaust manifolds, furnace parts, and fasteners. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, and elasticity. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming and machining. Filing Code: SS-729. Producer or source: Carpenter.
