Abstract
Background and Aims: In current guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral arterial diseases (PAD) there is no decision-making algorithm for screening for lower extremity PAD in patients with carotid atherosclerosis due to insufficient data. Aim of the study was to examine the prognostic value of various ultrasound markers of atherosclerosis of the carotid arteries in relation to the presence of asymptomatic lower extremity PAD.
