Abstract

The proposals in the Australian Government's cultural policy statement 'Creative Nation' to provide funding to capture the growing multimedia market are considered ineffective. It is suggested that Australia should participate actively in the global information economy, but the current notion of investment in technology as a means of economic and social growth seems to be representative only of Cargo Cultism and Technofetishism.
