Abstract

A 71-year-old man received a cardiac defibrilator (CD) implant following an anterior Myocardial Infarction (MI). Two years later an echocardiograph showed a large mass measuring 7×2cm appended to the DAI probe, close to the tricuspid valve. Anticoagulation was started but the mass did not decrease. All blood cultures were negative. Nevertheless, probabilistic antibiotherapy was started. The patient was operated on through a median sternotomy and the mass was removed under cardiopulmonary bybass (CPB).
