Abstract
(1) A consistent type of ventricular arrhythmia can be produced by elective stimulation of brainstem and diencephalic structures of the unanaesthetized cat. (2) The EKG patterns are similar to those seen in some human CNS pathology and in ECT therapy. (3) This arrhythmia apparently requires simultaneous parasympathetic and sympathetic activity. (4) Systemic diazepam appears to be of value in suppressing these arrhythmias.
