Abstract
1. 1. The total acetylcholine contents of the hearts of lungfish, toads, and rats were assayed on stabilized guinea-pig ileum. 2. 2. Significant differences were found. The amounts, expressed in ng. of AChCl per g. of wet heart tissue, were: 310±47, 223±27, and 40.0±4.7 respectively. 3. 3. These differences can be correlated with the amounts of thermal stress normally experienced by each of the three species.
