Abstract
Objective To explore the efficacy of carbamazepine combined with doxepin in the treatment of primary trigeminal neuralgia. Methods 80 patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia who had been treated during the period of October 2007 to October 2012 were randomly divided into groups A and B.Group A received combination therapy with carbamazepine and doxepin while group B received carbamazepine alone. The results were statistically analyzed using the SPSS 10.0.x 2 test and t test were used.P<0.05 was seen to have statistical difference. Results The total effectiveness rate was higher in group A than in group B (95.0% vs.87.5%),and the rate of complications was lower in group A than in group B (P<0.05).Conclusions Carbamazepine combined with doxepin has a higher efficacy and fewer adverse reactions in the treatment of primary trigeminal neuralgia than carbamazepine alone. It is worth popularizing clinically. Key words: Carbamazepine; Doxepin; Primary trigeminal neuralgia
