Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of neural foramen and ganglion acupuncture in the treatment of primary trigeminal neuralgia. Methods 80 patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia from September 2015 to September 2016 were randomly divided into two groups. The patients in the control group were treated with routine acupuncture, while the patients in the experimental group were treated with neural foramen and ganglion acupuncture. Compared the overall effect, the degree of pain before and after the treatment, and the adverse reactions of two groups. Results The VAS, pain range, pain degree, number of branches, triggering status, duration time, frequency of attack, and total score of pain in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.01). The rate of adverse reactions in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.01). The cured and markedly effective rate in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Neural foramen and ganglion acupuncture in the treatment of primary trigeminal neuralgia has significant effect, which can be used for reference. Key words: Acupuncture; Neural foramen; Ganglion; Primary trigeminal neuralgia; Adverse reactions
