Abstract
This is a retrospective descriptive study, conducted with the aim of characterizing suicide attempts in the municipality of Acacías, reported between 2017 and 2019. We considered 299 records of suicide attempt notification forms from the Health Surveillance System (SIVIGILA), provided by the health secretariat of this municipality. Through the analysis performed with the statistical program SPSS, version 20, it was found that, in the three years of study, the highest frequency of suicide attempts occurred in 2019 (38%), the female sex (55%), in the urban area (73%), in people with high school education (51%), linked to the subsidized health regime (50.5%), single people (72%), in the age group of 15 and 20 years (25.1%). With respect to the methods or mechanisms used, intoxication stands out (41%) and in terms of triggering factors or stressful situations, love breakups or marital conflicts (34%). These results offer a broad panorama when considering different variables and factors that intervene in suicide attempts in Acacías, which helps to understand this problem and invites to propose prevention programs from an integral and interdisciplinary perspective.
