Abstract

IntroductionHigh voltage devices such as the implantable cardioverter defibrillator and cardiac resynchroniser form an essential part of the treatment alternatives for heart failure patients. ObjectiveTo describe the current status of the importance of heart failure clinics in the selection and follow-up of candidates for devices. MethodologyReview of the available literature. ConclusionPatients with cardiac resynchronisers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators should be followed up in heart failure clinics in order to ensure the appropriate selection of candidates and optimisation of treatment.
