Abstract

The article deals with the situation associated with the production of The Cherry Orchard by the Moscow Art Theater at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries. Although The Cherry Orchard is a fiction by A.P. Chekhov, a kind of virtual case, and the art theater is a real story, nevertheless, the article considers the staging of the play as a business project that requires an economic solution, and not just an artistic one. The article compares the images of Savva Morozov, a real capitalist and philanthropist, and Lopakhin, the hero of the play The Cherry Orchard. The article will be of interest as additional material within the framework of areas related both to culture and art, and economics.
