Abstract

The following comment confirms Perry Patterson's conclusions that Czechoslovakia, Poland, and Hungary are in a better position to adopt a market economy than is the Commonwealth of Independent States. Patterson presents a competent introductory analysis of problems encountered in the formation of a capital market in the EITs. I will supplement Patterson's comments with recent information on economic development and capital market formation in Czechoslovakia.
