Abstract
The A and C phases of La1-xCaxMnO3 display canting of the magnetically ordered t2g-spins as a consequence of the competition between the double exchange and superexchange interactions. Using a mean-field slave-boson formulation for eg-electrons in two orbitals with excluded multiple occupancy and Hund's rule coupling between the eg and t2g electrons, the instability of the A, B, C, and G phases toward canting is studied
