Abstract

A general asymptotic expression for the low-temperature, canted-paramagnetic boundary of a single-ion uniaxial antiferromagnet is obtained as a function of the angle between the external magnetic field and the easy axis. If this angle is other than zero it is shown that in general the critical field behaves asymptotically as a T2 law. Depending on the values of this angle and of the anisotropy parameter a T3/2 dependence can be observed for experimentally accessible low temperatures. These results are considered for the uniaxial antiferromagnetic NiCl2.6H2O.
