Abstract

Abstract Tests were conducted to find an effective residual adulticide and larvicide for treatment of whole grain and other stored products. Insects were reared at 28± 1°C and 65 ± 5% RH with a 16L:8D photoperiod. Each insecticide was dissolved in a 19:1 (v/v) acetone and olive oil solvent mixture and one ml of it was used to impregnate Whatman no. 1 filter paper. Treated papers were stored overnight on aluminum foil in a ventilated area before use. Exposure chambers consisted of 266 ml plastic cups with the bottom removed. In these chambers insects were exposed by placing them without food on the impregnated filter paper. After 4 hr they were transferred to 9 cm petri dishes containing cracked corn.
