Abstract

Fungal proteases are well-known allergens. In this issue of Immunity, Wu etal. (2021) observe that allergic airway responses to Candida albicans are mediated by the peptide toxin candidalysin rather than proteases. Candidalysin promotes these responses by stimulating platelets to release the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf-1.
